Daryl Poulin

Cheyenne, Wyoming artist Daryl Poulin paints in a realistic and traditional manner, depicting the West of today and years gone by. "The Great American West, whether it be myth, reality or both, is all I paint. It’s our history and our heritage...the West is rich in exciting, colorful imagery and may be many things, good and bad, but it can never be dull. I’d like to think my work reflects that excitement." A graduate of the Art Institute of Chicago and the Portland School of Art, with a degree in graphic design, he spent twenty years working as a graphic designer in advertising agencies in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Rapid City, South Dakota. Demanding accuracy in his paintings, he also looks to the work of painters from other countries and eras for guidance. The Dutch masters, Russell and Remington, and Edward Hopper are particular influences.
